Psalm 23: Lavender
|
|
Psalm 23 with Lavender Background
The Lord is my Shepherd
I shall not want.
In lush meadows,
he lays me down, beside tranquil
waters, he leads me. He restores
my soul. He leads me on paths
of justice for his name's sake.
Though I walk in the valley
overshadowed by death,
I will fear no evil, for you are
with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in full view of my
tormentors. You anointed my
head with oil, my cup overflows.
May only goodness and kindness
pursue me all the days of my life,
and may I dwell in the House
of the Lord for a very long time.

Blessed is the Match
A Poem by Hannah Senesh
Hannah Senesh is the national heroine of Israel. She wrote this poem in 1944, shortly before she was executed by the Nazis
and had undergone torture. She had volunteered to be dropped behind enemy lines in Europe to gather information; she was captured
very shortly afterwards. She never broke under torture.
Blessed is the match consumed in kindling flame
Blessed is the flame that burns in the secret fastness of the Heart
Blessed is the Heart with Strength to stop its beating
for Honor's sake
Blessed is the match consumed in kindling flame.

Eili, Eili
(My God,My God)
This is another of Hannah Senesh's beautiful poems.
At the top of the circle are the words in Hebrew.
My God, my God, I pray that these things never end
The sand and the sea, the rush of the waters,
The crash of the heavens, the prayer of the heart,
The sand and the sea, the rush of the waters,
The crash of the heavens, the prayer of the heart.

I lift my eyes to the mountains
From whence cometh my help?
My help cometh from the Lord
