Last Kiss
|
|
You were in
a rush You gave me a quick kiss And you were off I never realized that that kiss was to be
the last one.... that our whole life together, just like the quick kiss would vanish in
a split second There was no proper warning... That was no proper way... to end a lifetime of togetherness with a mere kiss on the run. (Original Words)

New Widow's Song
Paper comes from trees that
once were alive.
Ink typed on paper
announces ...death.
here is where eternal
loneliness dwells.
Nothing ever happens
No mess unless I make it.
No sounds unless I make them.
What is there to do
in this heartbreaking
silence?
So alone....
I am a sponge for loneliness,
for pity.
What else is there?
What is my purpose now?
I don't even know where
I am supposed to be going
anymore.

Single Now
They tell me I am single now
I have to learn to accept it and go on
I say "I was always part of a couple"
but they say "You are single now--
Just accept it and go on with life."
Easy to say. So hard to do.
What a wide gulf stands between me
and the young woman
who used to be me when
I was single.
I will have to do some serious
stretching
To try to find that young woman,
that time of being single.
Even so, I don't know if
I can ever find her.
You see as part of a couple
I have travelled far
from my girlhood home and
far from those early visions
of my youth
Crossing terrains I never
would have imagined
when I was single.
But still they tell me
You are single
no longer a couple
accept it and
go on with life.
It's really just as
Simple as that.
And I say that in life the
easiest things are often
the most difficult to do.

Narrow,Steep Bridge (Upright Flower)
|
|
These days I walk on a narrow bridge between the known past and the unknown
future, with no guide or dear companion to
hold my hand. The sleekness and lustre of youth are gone The appetite for adventure has vanished Alone on this
bridge now, without the resilience of my youth to fall back on, my steps are both slow and uncertain. Sometimes the narrow
bridge seems to sway, so I observe myself carefully as I go on; I don't want to slip and fall. I walk
alone, each foot placed as best as I can, each step taking me farther and farther from my past, leaving it on the other
side, behind me. I cannot see what is at the other end of the bridge: there seems to be a heavy fog where the future lays
My eyes cannot pierce it; My heart cannot
fathom it. But as I come nearer with each step, Perhaps, just perhaps, the sun will break through burning the fog away, revealing to me, in the distance, a green landscape,
one of hope and promise: a sight that I
cannot see now from where I stand. (original words)

In this great silence
What of importance remains?
the lingering sensation
of my hand touching yours
the reassuring
sound of your voive
the smile
that would light up your face
your eyes meeting mine
and between us,
intangible,
a whole world of
unspoken words.

Your Strong Arms
|
|
Your strong arms
surrounded me-
within them
I am in a safer place
a place of comfort
a place of confidence
the strength within you
radiates through me
infuses me too,
with strength
my head rests on your chest
I listen to your heartbeat
absorbing the perfect peace
of the moment.
You are my love
the love who is really with me
for me
in this time
in this place
in this world.

Last Dance
I was waiting for that dance with you
My love
I was waiting for so many months
In truth I waited for years
My favorite and only partner
That slow dance
when you held me in your arms
when the music filled us with its song
and each minute seemed to be an hour
You wanted to wait until you could
become fluent with the steps of the dance
I only wanted you to be with me,
one with the other,
wrapped in each other's arms and
wrapped in the music
Somehow we never made time for
the dance
There were things that needed to be done
People who needed to be helped
Projects to do
Tasks to finish up
And in the end, life turned on itself
and left us
without the time for the dance.
In my daydreams, I still yearn
for that dance
That wonderful dance with you,
My love,
Wrapped in each other's arms
when the music filled our very souls
and each minute seemed an hour
That dance that,
I know now,
was never to be.

Mirror of Love
You are truly a wonder of the world
A man who sees his woman
Looking more attractive with the passing
of the years, and tells her so.
You are the mirror of my choice:
A man who discounts the markings of time
and sees only with the eyes of love.
